I liked these panels from forest in particular, from dark fantasy manga called Berserk by Kentaro Miura. Berserk has such stunning amount of details poured into each page.

Woodkid - Iron

While it’s already 2 years old video, and most of people have probably seen it (what with humble 20 million views in youtube) I still have to say I have ton of respect for Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid. Being both talented artist and talented designer, having directed this video and music videos of other artists. I just get the feeling that this dude puts a lot of effort and strives for the best in whatever he’s doing. I find the visuals very inspiring.

Quirky miniature porcelain sculptures made by Ukranian artists Anya Stasenko and Slava Leontyev

The first one looks so peaceful and calm, like some comforting dream creature. I love these designs.

Storm Thorgerson (1944 - 2013), graphic designer, passed away a few days ago, leaving behind a legacy of inspiring artwork. Some of the greatest album covers ever created. What a vast imagination.

Strange, I was just researching through his stuff in awe a week before, seeing documentaries he’s in and all that.

Truly great work. It’s weird I never knew his name either, although I’ve seen many of these and admired them.

Yoshitaka Amano meets David Bowie

Wow, can’t believe I never heard of this. According to this interview (click), the artwork (of which there is a good deal more) also features Iman and most of the clothing is designed by Dior. Neil Gaiman later wrote a short story based on the art.

Amano + Bowie + Iman + Dior + Gaiman. Collaboration is a beautiful thing.

WELL DANG I’LL BE.

Meg Hunt’s piece for the show! Re:blogged from paperalligator:

Print complete!

Whirling Blade, 11x14”, four color, edition of 30. I’ll probably put some up for sale in the near future, and maybe give away the couple of ones that have slight mistakes on them!

Portlanders: if you’re free next Friday, come see it at Land Gallery, who’s hosting the Triforce Tribute show! It’s gonna be good.

How come I haven’t reblogged this already. Meg Hunt/paperalligator is awesome.

I like living in Helsinki and I think it’s beautiful photo, because it’s not so obviously beautiful picture of Finnish summer or winter night.

I’ve read it twice, and I am sure I will read it again some time.

It’s just fun to look at, I like how photo and graphics look so good together. Makes me wish they were animated.

I enjoy seeing Yoshitaka Amano’s art for Final Fantasy games where he isn’t the lead character designer — they’re like little glimpses into an alternate universe where the series kept his unique artistic vision. Here’s a sampling of his takes on VII, VIII, X, XII and XIII.

Amano is still the number one artist who has influenced me. Sometimes I think it’s bit weird I’m not so much influenced by his European role model, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. I even consider Toulouse-Lautrec more variable and talented, but I am inexplicably drawn to Amano’s work. It could be just that Toulouse-Lautrec’s work is bound to his own era and culture, whereas Amano’s artwork happens in dreamspace ruled by patterns, colors and dynamic compositions..
